How do I use an FTP site to share files on my free web space?

Making your files available for web users to see.

One way to get files uploaded to a server is to use a software program called a "FTP", which stands for File Transfer Protocol. There are many different FTP programs that are easy to use and some are also available for free off the Internet!

 

Using Internet Explorer to Move File/Folders from your Hard Drive to Our Server:

  1. Navigate to the files/folders that you want to upload to our server

  2. Highlight the files and Right Click on one of the files

  3. Left Click on Copy

  4. Open up Internet Explorer

  5. In the address field type in ftp.newulmtel.net

  6. You will be prompted for a username and password

  7. Type in your username and password and click on Login


     

  8. Right Click in the white space and Left Click on Paste


     

  9. Wait for files to upload

  10. You should now see your files on our server

  11. You can logoff of our server by closing Internet Explorer

 

Using Internet Explorer to Move File/Folders from Our Server to your Hard Drive:

  1. Open up Internet Explorer

  2. In the address field type in ftp.newulmtel.net

  3. You will be prompted for a username and password

  4. Type in your username and password and click on Login


     

  5. Highlight the files and Right Click on one of the files

  6. Left Click on Copy

  7. Minimize Internet Explorer by clicking on the "_" in the upper right corner next to the square and the X

  8. Navigate to the place where you would like to move the file to on your computer

  9. Right Click at the location and then Left Click on Paste

  10. Wait for files to download

  11. You should now see the files at that location

  12. You can logoff of our server by closing Internet Explorer
