What is phishing?

Phishing is the illegal procoss of attempting to gather personal information (credit card numbers, usernames, passwords, etc) from internet users by pretending to be a trustworthy entity.   In most cases, phishing is done by sending an email or instant message to a user.  This email or instant message will appear to be from an online payment center, IT administrator, bank, or social networking site, and it will ask the user to supply personal information.

NU-Telecom never sends email requests for username or password information to our customers.
